Diploma in Advanced Endodontics

Objective

This Post graduate diploma is designed to offer clinicians, with comprehensive training, scientifically based rationale for all diagnostic, treatment planning, and patient care decisions in all aspects of conservative and surgical endodontics.
This program is designed and carried on from the University of Genoa-Italy. The teaching faculty members are consultants in Endodontics and are selected from this University. The didactic format will include lectures, laboratory time, video review, literature review and an intensive hands-on practice.
The international training program is directed by Prof. Stefano Benedicenti and coordinated by Prof. a.c. Denise Pontoriero. Successful completion of the course and final examination shall be recognized by the presentation of a certificate: “Post graduate diploma in Advanced Endodontics”
and a transcript of records legalized by the Italian government providing 10 ECTS ( 250 credit hours with 72 hours of theoretical lessons and hands on, 153 hours of individual study and 25 hours of thesis preparation )

Course Structure

The course is comprised of three “three-day” modules

 

Module I

•    Endodontic access cavities: clinical guidance, instruments and techniques.
•    Locating calcified root canal orifices: instruments and operative techniques.
•    Rubber dam.
•    Magnification, Additional light, Ultrasonics and Radiography.
•    Root canal shaping: The principles and techniques of root canal preparation with nickel titanium rotary instruments.
•    Irrigation: Solutions, delivery devices and operative techniques. How to prevent errors when cleaning.
•    Activating instruments and techniques to enhance the irrigants action.
•    Obturation of the root canal system: principles, materials and techniques.
•    Vertical Compaction of Warm Gutta-Percha and continuous wave of condensation.
•    Single cone and bio-ceramic sealers.
•    Carrier-based obturation techniques.
•    Hands-on


Module II

•    Re-treatment decisions and treatment planning in endodontics.
•    Removal of crowns and bridges.
•    Removal of prefabricated metallic and fiber posts, and Casted Post and core. 
•    Solvents and Removal of Obturation Materials: Paste, Gutta-Percha, Resin.
•    Removal of Silver Points and broken Instruments.
•    Managing ledge, block and calcification.
•    Reshaping root canal with manual and rotary instruments.
•    Root perforations: Prevention and repair with MTA.
•    Endodontic treatment of teeth with large and open apices.
•    MTA: Properties and operative techniques.
•    Hands-on.

Module III

•    Pulpal pathology.
•    Diagnosis and treatment of painful emergencies. 
•    Periapical diseases: Treatment of chronic and acute apical periodontitis, abscess, granuloma and cyst.
•    Dental traumatic injuries: Treatment of root fracture, laxation and avulsion.
•    Endo-Perio problems: diagnosis and treatment.
•    The use of the dental microscope.
•    Post-Endo Restoration: clinical guidance, instruments and techniques.
•    Treatment of complicated cases in Endodontics.
•    Endodontic surgery indications.
